Yes, yes, yes! I got denied with a 3.77 on my pre-reqs because there were 115 applicants with a 4.0!
Are there any schools around you that are based on a waiting list? Even then you may have to wait several semesters or years, but it may be good to at least be on a waiting list somewhere while still applying to other schools each semester.
Good luck to you! :)

I am on a waiting list for Kishwaukee College in Malta Illinois. It has an excellent reputation-one of the best in the state with a 98-99% pass rate. I was told that the waiting list is 2-21/2 years when I went to the required information meeting to get on the list. That was in Jan 05 and the other day the director of nursing told me it looks like I have a good chance of being called for fall 06!!! I am so excited. Good thing I took summer classes for prereqs! The min GPA is 2.75?I think with a 3 (out of 4) on all nursing specific courses. Their are other requirements too like algebra with a C or better and either 2 consec semesters of 6 credits of 100 level or above at 3.0 or above or 1 semester of 12 credits of the same. This is in northern illinois, 6 miles from DeKalb and northern IL University. The # is (815) 825-2086. Ask for the nursing department. I have 2 sister in laws and several friends who have gone here and those nurses are hired before the ones from other schools. I am shocked at the process at other schools, and the waiting list I was so bothered by turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It went so fast because alot on the list do not have their prereqs. I was #250 or so to start and 40 are admitted in fall and 35 in spring so a year and a half would mean over half dropped off in front of me!
