I am attending Daytona Beach Community College and I was to apply for the nursing program in May of 07 but once May came around they told me that I could not apply because they made Micro a pre req instead of a coreq. I was really mad but what could I do. So the lady who takes the applications told me I could apply in the fall, and now I am hearing that they are not taking any applications in the fall. If this is true I think I will scream. How can it be fair to all the students who are currently enrolled and working towards finishing classes just for this particular program and they keep changing it.
I think that fact that they changed Micro to a pre req is good because they said a lot of people were failing it because they also had there nursing courses.
My plan is to have all my courses complete other than the nursing specific courses. I think this would make my life a little easier. WHat do you think?
Also woud spanish be something that I should take before getting into the nursing program?

Hey there...sorry to hear they keep changing things up on you. I would be quite upset as well!
I work full-time and have a 21 month old daughter, so I only go part-time for classes and have been the past three years. I have finished all of my classes except the nursing. I was mad because I didn't get in for Fall (all because of the language section...that brought my score way down), so now I am taking a class that is not even required because I have to try to get in for Spring. I am glad I'm done with everything but the Nursing courses though - I know I'll need all the time I can get to focus on that and only that, but like I said, my time is limited.
As far as Spanish, I don't think it would be a bad idea to have that behind you...you may even make more somewhere because of it, but it is certainly not required (not here anyway, but maybe some places - I don't know). If you have time to do it, couldn't hurt I say!

Instead of talking to the "lady that takes the applications", you need to get an appointment with the Director of the Program to get the REAL story of what is going on.
There are all kinds of stupid rumers that go flying around on admissions, and you need to know the real story.
