Nursing Program at Hunter College NLN Score

U.S.A. New York

Published

hey everyone! I'm currently a student at hunter college and am applying for the nursing program for Fall 2010. I am taking the NLN tomorrow and am very nervous! I know the test is computer based and you can get your score as soon as your finished taking the test. I know there have been NLN exams going on since Monday. I was wondering if people wanted to share their scores (totally anonymous) just so we can get idea of what the high-low scores are. I hope everyone did well and I hope to see you in the program this fall!:nurse:

tallulahbelle, i agree completely with you.

it took me awhile to realize that i should just be deaf, dumb and blind to half of the "facts" i hear floating around the pre-nursing students. most of them have little to no value.

whatever you got on your nln, i know that you still have a strong chance of getting into the program with your gpa. as long as you did not completely bomb it, i'd even go as far as saying that i know you'll get in. like you said, there are no concrete grades we have to be getting on our gpa (besides mandatory c's) or nln. no one HAS to get in the 140s or 150s if they have a 3.89. You would only HAVE to get those scores if you were looking at the test as a way of making up for your gpa.

i have about a 3.85. however, i only scored a 135 on my nln. my percentile was 93%. so, if you HAVE to score in the 140s and 150s to get in the program, then hunter's nursing school is going to be having a very small class this coming year, since only 7% of people scored higher then me. whoever is floating this bs around needs to get their facts straight and stop discouraging others.

i know you all are probably sick of hearing (cause i am) those "i have a friend in the nursing program who.." stories, but just to further my point.. one of my good friends is a year ahead of us and in the program. after her class took the nln, she was only in the 85% percentile with a 136. therefore, our year (probably because of the way they suddenly moved the test) on average scored lower then the years before. it would be stupid then to compare our acceptance grades to those of previous years, since our acceptance/rejection is relative to how other applicants did. maybe they are right in saying that in PREVIOUS years you had to be getting in the 140s or 150s but that is obviously not the case for our year.

anyway, i don't have to say any of this since we should be getting all our acceptance/rejections in the coming weeks. then we can see all these stupid rumors put to rest.

let us know when your acceptance comes, tallulahbelle. :)

I hate this waiting when do you guys think we will hear something?!

Early to mid- May? I was talking to my friend who got into nursing @ Hunter last year, she told me that the letter came in a few days before break. =/ (It sounds like a disaster, but you'll be jumping up and down the moment you get it.) At this point, there is no need to compare GPA and NLN scores since not all people will be willing to share anyway. Keep in mind, we have 105 spots open. (Unless they changed it again this year.)

BTW, How's A&P2? I am depending on the final. =( Any tips from those ones who are getting 90s from lecture?

i am also depending on BOTH bio finals :( i'm a straight A student but this semester is horrible for me. i studied for 3 weeks for the last ap test and got a 70!! can anyone give me any advice?

Good luck guys! I took anatomy part 2 last year and there was extra credit that helped us out A LOT. Do you guys have anything like that this semester? Don't worry everything will work out!

Hey everyone, I just checked Hunter's nursing web page and in case you didn't see it here's what it said:

Admission decisions for the generic and accelerated programs will be sent to your Hunter email account in mid-May. An orientation to the school of nursing for generic and accelerated students, and ordering of uniforms, will be June 1 from 10 am to 4 pm. Attendance at the orientation is mandatory. Any student who is absent will forfeit their seat in the program.

thank you for the information!

is anyone doing well in ap2 lecture? does anyone have any tips on how to study for the final? i don't know if i should be reading the text or the notes or what. ugh.

Unpocodeam0r were you able to register for the course for fall 2010, if you're at Hunter and that's what you're on track for? I'm currently NOT registered for the course b/c apparently at the time of my registration (Today at 2:40), ALL of the classes were taken and I couldn't even get into the classes that had labs at 10:30PM! I plan on taking it at another CUNY through e-permit, but I don't know if by the time I get the permit, the classes won't already be filled elsewhere as well. Oy CUNY registration really sucks.

wait, what course? i'm taking ap2 now at hunter. i registered last week for some random classes because we haven't heard back from nursing. if i get in i'm dropping all my courses for nursing ones. what course are you talking about?

Oh sorry, I thought you weren't in BIO 120 yet and wanted some tips on how to prepare. I guess I'm just freaking out right now b/c all the classes are closed and I don't have a seat in any of them.

don't worry, that happened to a lot of people last semester. just check everyday!
