Hi FeFe, I see you are interested also, what other programs have you considered?

Specializes in Tele.

have you considered a state university?

have you thought of the costs of the program?

yes, I have considered both cost and a stste school. Do you know anything about JU?

Hey there in Crescent City! I'm a current JU RN-BSN student. For me it was cheaper than San Diego State and Pheonix, it's also 100% online. One class (or 2 if you wish) every eight weeks, standard 16 week semester. I have a wife and 2 young kids so I'm in the 1 class every 8 week club, which is very doable for me. I'll be done with all but the very last nursing class at the end of summer, the very last nursing class has to wait until I finish all my undergrad bachelor classes :(

The online aspect is very user-friendly and convienient. I recommend it to all my RN friends w/ADN. Let me know if you have any other ????

Thank you sooo much Shamu. I have been in contact with an advisor, she seems very nice, but I wanted to hear from an actual student and you answered my question. I love the fact that nursing classes can be done before and concurrently with the prereqs. So how long has it taken you to complete the nursing portion? Also, are there a lot of papers to be written and how are the test?

I started the program Fall II of 2007, took 2 classes over 8 weeks, a bit hectic. I've taken 1 class 8 weeks since then, taking last summer off, and I'll be done by Fall II of this year, if I take classes through summer. The very last nursing class you can't take until all your bachelor classes are complete, that'll be another year for me I'm sure. Of course nothing comes without a downside! Here's what I've found, statistics and papers! Statistics is a required prereq before advancing pass the first 2 nursing courses, I hate math and dreaded stats, but I took an online course through my local community college (while taking nursing courses) Spring semester 2008. There are papers due in pretty much every class. Each class has one big paper/project due by week 6 or 7, it's always related to your course material and the isnstructors let you pick the topic. I am one who is in the fold of people who don't like writing papers, but I've just learned to accept that every class has a paper due and that's that. The nice part is that you pick the topics and so you can can research something of interest to you in nursing/medicine. The tests are all online, multile choice, and usually with a time limit, 90 minutes on average. All the lectures are online and the school ships all your books and lecture notes to ya. If you didn't slack off as much as me back in college then I'm guessing you could have the BSN in 2-3 semesters, taking 2 nursing classes every eight weeks. Good luck and let me know if you have any other ???

Hey there Shamu, check your PM box:up:

I checked your message but it says I can't send private messages?

Specializes in Trauma,ER,CCU/OHU/Nsg Ed/Nsg Research.

Shamu- you can't send PMs, until you have accumulated 15 viable posts. ;)

I just wanted to add a note of THANKS!!! I am also seriously considering JU's RN-BSN program. I'm wondering if it's worth it (especially financially) to take all of the General Education Core classes at a community college? Do you have any experience with this? Any input is greatly appreciated :hpygrp:
