Hi all:
I currently live in CT and work at a major teaching hospital here. My specialty is Oncology and I have 2+ years of experience (second career). For personal reasons considering relocating to NC. Maybe Charlotte or Durham. Wondering about the "climate" for nurses here. I already found in the threads that pay is lower than in CT, oh well hope that is made up for by lower cost of living.
Would love some thoughts on:
How are the nurse-to-patient ratios?
Availability of jobs (considering 2 years of exp)?
I am also in an FNP program here and will have to transfer. How is the job market for FNPs?
Thx!
I'm following this as we are looking to move here once my husband retires from the military in 2 years. I'll be graduating this December with my BSN and plan to work in Peds, preferably ICU, so I would have approximately 2 years experience before we move to NC. Here in WA we are able to look up contracts from all local hospitals that include pay scales through WSNA. Does NC also have this option? I tried looking on NCNA website but wasn't finding any results. Starting out here, I will make $28/hr or $32/hr with differentials/night shift pay/etc. I understand cost of living is a lot higher here, but we are wanting to buy property so trying to gauge approximately what our income will be like to see what we can afford. We're looking at the Asheville, NC area if anyone has any info/help I'd greatly appreciate it.
