As nurses, how do you think we can spread the positive image to the public, despite the way the media has portrayed us such as "inferior to physicians, or a physician's helper," provocative characters on tv., and such?

Is this a homework assignment?

What do YOU think?
Yes, and the homework is to utilize media and technology in promoting a positive image in nursing. I figured this is a great way to get everyone together and bounce ideas back and forth. Thank you for your time!
The class that I am taking right now truly opened my eyes in to the most minute details of how nursing is portrayed by the media. Since becoming a nurse 2.5 years ago, I am still in the infant ages of my career and I have been oblivious to the way nursing is portrayed by the public being that I am just so focused on the clinical aspect of nursing itself. Since taking this class, I have realized how the media can and has affected our profession in the past. Not only do we feel the need to prove ourselves and worth next to the physicians, but gender bias is well and alive in our profession. Nursing is viewed by the public as a women's job due to its history and our male colleagues have a harder time trying to adapt into a career that is known to be all women. Because of this, they feel the need to have to defend their sexuality, when the truth of the matter is, they do not have to. The best nurses does not matter their color, age, or gender; the best nurses are the ones that have the compassion and true love for caring for others. Thank you all for your time.
