I'm several years into a pharmaceutical research career and have realized I should have stuck with my original plan and gone into health care. I plan on starting an accelerated BSN program this spring.

The problem is that I've got a wife and two kids, and we'll be surviving on loans for the length of the program. Have any of y'all done this? Frankly, I'm a bit terrified and am starting to have second thoughts.

YEAH...WE ARE SORTA IN THE SAME BOAT!! I am a single mother, and I decided that I NEEDED/WANTED to change careers. I too wondered how I would be able to provide financially for my household while trying to continue my education. I did ALOT of research and fortunately I found a program in my city that offers NIGHT CLASSES ( so I will be able to maintain)...is this an option for you?? I wish you luck, I cannot go to an accelerated program because of the complexity of those degrees..so I have to take the long road..but I am okay with that because I know that there is a BIG :dncgbby:light at the end of the tunnel.....GOOD LUCK!!

go for it. It took me 6.5 years to get my BSN in nursing. Look for scholarships! Google scholarships and nursing and any ethnic background you may have. Also check for state department of health website - they have loans and grants and scholarships you may qualify for now or after when you get a job. If you work in underserved area (which is basically anywhere here in CA) they pay 10,000/year off your loans from what I found. Ask for a pell grant and any college grants your school offers and keep your eyes open for any scholarships anywhere - they are out there you just have to find them!
