Need some help on the matter have a class d felony fraud, now on my record for making false statements on my unemployment, to receive benefits which was a total mixup on my part, will i still be able to go thru nursing and get License after all of school or has any one had this problem before,

Thanks :o

I saw your post and thought I'd reply, I've just graduated RN school, and have a Declaratory Petition in process (TX). I have a misdemeanor on my record, and am trying to apply for licensure. It is a very scary place to be sitting, but I know this is where God wants me, so I have every faith it will work out.

I just suggest doing all the paperwork BEFORE starting school, so you're not sitting on a bubble like me. I logged on here to find some encouragement, but it's sort of few and far between. Many people are very judgemental, but just remember they don't know you or your circumstances. Best advice I have is contact your state board.

From what ive seen, as long as your crime does not involve harm to another person, youll get some type of license, whethers its unconditional, or with restrictions, or probationary.......Its important to be upfront and get an OK before starting school. It would suck to go through all that schooling and not be able to sit for boards.

The only answer to your question that really matters is the one you get from the Board of Nursing in your state (or the state in which you want to get licensed). Contact them ASAP and explain your situation to them very directly and honestly (however bad it might be, it can only be worse for you if they find out later on that you weren't entirely truthful with them).

There's no point in putting this off -- either you'll be able to go ahead and pursue nursing school knowing that you're eligible for licensure, or you can start making other plans. Either way, the sooner you know, the better.

Best wishes.
