How long does it take to reach a decision on cases?

Nurses Criminal

Hey,

I am still waiting on an okay to take boards. Mine is not a criminal history; but either way (criminal or not) it's a case. I figure I would come on this forum and ask how long it took for a decision because I can't find an answer elsewhere. All the info. to make a decision was submitted mid May, acknowledged receipt June 5, and still nothing. I am pretty sure they received it before (it only takes like 2-3 days to send something across the state); but just acknowledged it June 5 after concern over whether they even got it. It's been a week tomorrow that I know they have received it and still nothing. Is it just a sign they are carefully considering or is the length of time a sign of denial?

Also, if I get denied in one state, will I automatically get denied in another?

Please someone help that has dealt with case decisions. I am in Virginia...are they strict when it comes to decisions?

1. No way to really say how long it'll take for your case to be addressed by the BON. Depending on what your case involves as well as the backlog the BON has to deal with, it could be a few weeks. If you haven't heard anything in another week (that'd make it two weeks, a fair amount of time), then drop them a call/e-mail to touch base. Otherwise all you can do is hang tight and wait.

2. Not necessarily: BONs consider applicants on a case-by-case basis. However, keep in mind that should VA deny your ATT/license, you will have to report that to the next state BON that you apply to.

Best of luck!

Most decisions are made by a board, which may only meet once a month. Go online or call to find out when the actual meetings are held.

As was already stated, this may be a while, depending on the amount of cases that are pending.

Best wishes.
