Nursing jobs in west texas

Published

I am currently looking for employment in West Texas. I'm moving back to Colorado City, Texas. What are my options regarding nursing jobs. There is a small hospital in Synder and in Colorado City, but they are not hiring. I have seen home health opportunities. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, I am an new grad (May 2011) and I live in the DFW area. I have been applying to West TX. and basically statewide since I had no luck in the super-saturated DFW RN market. I interviewed with GEO in Big Springs, and that went well-waiting for security clearance on that. I did two phone interviews with BSA of Amarillo and they want me to visit next week. I was contacted by Hendrick in Abilene and did a form via email and then did assessment tests today. I was contacted by Brownwood by a nurse recruiter, but I decided not to rsue it. On Friday nurse recruiter from Christus in Corpus Christie called and left message. I have also applied to scott and white in Temple. The Geo company seems to pay very well, I was not given the rate but in HR a sign said LVN rate is 23/hr, so RN should be good. Their benefits are excellent and it is 40 hrs. wk. It is a minimum security corrections facility and I never even considered it before this. Big Springs is pretty small and I am use to the big city, but I was applying to every hospital in DFW and getting nothing! I have to relocate to get started! I wish you much luck and I think Lubbock UMC hospital is also hiring new grads! Best of luck to you

My spouse works @ Community Medical Center in San Angelo and their job board shows a current $6000 sign on bonus for RN's. Nothing about a bonus for LVN's, but there are at least jobs posted for them. Shannon Health in San Angelo hiring as well. San Angelo is a small city, with a small town atmosphere, low cost of living, nice family oriented town. Good luck!

You guys aren't far from me, Im in Midland. We have another town close to us called Odessa, together we are known as the Permian Basin. We have 2 hospitals here in Midland, as well as 5 LTC facilities. Odessa has 3 hospitals and LTC as well, and there is also Lubbock (2 hours away) I am getting my CNA in the spring and hoping to transition to RN by 2013.... Good Luck!

I knw this is old but how's job market recently for new grad rn?
