Nursing jobs in Vancouver ? (from AB)

Hello,

I am a nursing student who will be graduating in April in Calgary, AB. I plan to work in AB for a year and then my family will move to Vancouver.

I hear it is very difficult for new grads to find jobs in Vancouver and that the working conditions leave much to be desired. Is that true? If I plan to move mid 2013, when should I register for BC registration? Someone said you should have your registration passed before applying for jobs, is that also true?

Any help would be appreciated.

There are many applicants for a handful of positions in all the major city centres. You should be able to find a casual position in Vancouver, especially if you plan to work as an RN for a year prior to applying. Keep in mind though that locals are preferred. Who knows for sure what the market will look like in 2013? Registration may take anywhere from 3 to 6 months for anyone moving Provinces, so be prepared with all of your documentation and apply well in advance. It took me 2.5 months to have my AB registration in order when I was applying from ON.
