Nursing jobs from home

Hi! I have been a critical care nurse for 7 years. I'm a mother of one and expecting #2. I only work pool right now. But I think those days are over. Besides wanting to spend more time with my kids, I am burnt out from bedside nursing. The being on my feet with no breaks for 12 hours, the families disrespecting me, I could go on and on. I've just had enough of it all. So I'm planning on leaving bedside nursing and being a stay at home mom. I can see myself possibly coming back in 10 years but for NOW I'm taking a break.

SO - I know they are few and far between, but what are some "work at home" nursing jobs? Is there anything I can do from home for an insurance complany or something? If anyone knows of any jobs like this let me know, thanks!

I've seen jobs for case managers to work from home.

There are case management and disease management jobs that can be done from home, but please don't expect they're going to give you more time for your kids. Many people who work at home end up having to get babysitters for their kids, because they have to be able to work *uninterrupted*--and in a HIPAA-compliant space.

Usually those positions are given to people who are already working at the company or who have prior experience in those fields. You could still look into those fields if what you're really wanting is to give up nights and weekends and physical care. With seven years' experience, you should be reasonably well qualified.

I'm in a similar situation and strongly considering legal nurse consulting. We'll see how it goes. Good luck!
