Hello everyone!
Hubby and I are very frustrated with the ridiculous housing market in Vancouver. We are panning to move somewhere else. Someone reccomended Halifax, NS. I couldn't find any recents posts about this place. Could someone can tell me how hard is it to find a nursing (RN) job there? Also how is it like living there? We enjoy going out and we noticed there is a lot of outdoor things do. I would appreciate any input, the good and the bad about the place.
Thanks!

You can find Halifax & area RN job postings through Nova Scotia Health Authority Capital Health, as well as careerbeacon.com, maybe apply and see what kind of a response you receive.

The Vancouver housing market is very frustrating! Halifax is a beautiful city. I'm from the east coast and have been there many times. The people are friendly and there are plenty of things to do outdoors. Its also a bit slower way of life compared to Vancouver. I am not familiar with the job market for RN's there.
The only bad thing is the winters. It snows a lot! But the rest of the year makes up for the snow :)

Lots of jobs advertised on career beacon, I should know as I get alerts all the time. The issue however is the healthcare in NS is still in flux from when the government took over a couple years ago. Jobs may be advertised but getting foot through the door is difficult. I know where I live near the NS and NB border there is a struggle to find staff and jobs are advertised a few times.
This Year snow wise is pretty mild but the cold with - windchill has been brutal. Plenty to do outdoors all the year round but travel may be required
Thank you all! I did do a search and found postings to be a bit scarce at this time, especially for LTC. I might have to look into other cities/provinces.
If looking at LTC then main employers are Shannex, GEM just to name 2 off the top of my head
If you want to explore what it's like to live and work in another western province on a temporary basis, you could look into doing a travel nursing assignment. The assignments are usually in rural locations, not cities.
