Moving to Kansas City, where should I work?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi all,

I am moving to KC in three weeks and have been job hunting but am unsure of what hospitals are best to work at since I'm coming from Florida and don't know the area super well. Currently, I am working at a VA on a regular med/surg unit with a 5-6 patient load and have recently finished the one year nurse residency program. I do like working with the VA but didn't know if there were better opportunities at other hospitals in the area. I'd love to work ICU or ED but can definitely work med/surg. Just wanted to know if anyone had advice on which hospitals are great places to work/places to stay away from. Also, since the state line runs through the city, how does the licensing work? Do the hospitals accept both MO and KS licenses? I'll living on the MO side.

Thanks!
