Just as someone else said, hit the thrift stores. I volunteered at a Rescue Mission thrift store earlier this year to make up some hours for class, I was surprised at the amount of decent clothing they had available. Think conservative, it makes you look much more professional.

Specializes in Hospice, corrections, psychiatry, rehab, LTC.
Jewelry is fine if in good taste.

In the last batch of nursing interviews I sat in on, one female candidate wore tons of jewelry - really over the top (two or three necklaces, several bracelets and at least four rings). The first comment after she left was that she seemed more interested in attracting attention to herself than anything about the job. She was cut from consideration pretty quickly.

As far as interview attire goes, the thrift shop idea is a good one if you don't have a lot of money to spend. I got a tuxedo jacket for $3 once (I was just looking for a sport coat for a concert).
