  2. thanks for the reply danapjmsn...... what does it mean when you say you only have to take core classes and which msn did to do education or HC management..... do u think i can go for CNS instead of education or HC management.....and then apply for np....the reason i m asking is because i m worried what if i cant get into np even after my msn ..what would i do with msn in education or HC management......i know there r jobs but not so many....
  3. Hi! i have been working in psych as an RN since past 2 years and got my BSN in may of 2011. I have applied for NP program. My concern is my gpa which is 2.89. I know most schools want u to have 3.0 atleast. I have not received any letter yet from schools. what do u guys think. should i go for CNS or something else. may be having a masters degree in something else would help me get in NP school......i m so lost ......i so want to be a family psych np. i have applied to usa family psych program has anybody got accepted in provisional status....:hdvwl:

I work in a psych unit :uhoh3:and whenever the census is low a nurse gets pulled to some medical floor if needed. :eek:some of the nurses who claim that they are not medically trained dont want to get pulled to a different floor . however some of the nurses including me work on medical floor when needed . according to hospital policy all nurses take turns when they are needed on other floor . i was pulled to another floor last week and when i was told that they were pulling me again to a different floor this week :mad:i told them that i was pulled last week and requested to please let someone else take a turn this time:idea:am i right or wrong ... should i be feeling guilty :confused:because some one else had to go to another floor because i didnt .:argue:
  6. hey everyone!!!plz help me I work on a med surg floor i got this position a month ago coz one of their nurses quit this job ...... i have been in orientation from last month..........and today was my first day on my own..........however last week tht nurse came back to work coz she still work as a prn and mentioned tht she quit her job.............one of our night nurses has also quit.............so our manager has offered her night shift to work............ i feel tht the she and other ppl at work wants her to come back to her original shift...........i dont know what to do.........i m so confused.............and at times she would pass me comments like "at least you have a job" "you have this job becayse of me" "i gave this job to u"...........u know things like this...........i feel tht nurses and cna's on this doesnt like me anymore..............i have no clue wht to do i m a new nurse i graduated in aug start wkg on ortho in sept ............unit closed...........they transfered me to oncology..........this is where i did my internship (oncology).........i thought ppl would like me here............but itys not like it at all...........they dont talk to me nicely............if i have a question they would just say "i dont know" plz plz plz help:mad:
  7. :tinkbll:I found out yesterday tht i passes my NCLEX-RN with 75 ques I just want to say thx for all of your support especially my family and god:balloons: Here is how i studied: I did the Hurst review, Hurst cd know all the precautions, infection control, know all the basic drugs :thankya:(generic names ) so u can figure out their action if throw some new name at you. i got a lot of SATA (select all tht apply) ques. I studied for 2 weeks i learned all the labs from hurst cd, mock nclex, prioritize, delegation ques from hurst cd, i did kaplan, ncsbn ques (provided by school), i think hurst review helped me a lot esp how to answer ques...........ASSUME THE WORST :smiley_ab.........all their techniques to answer the questions.........i also liked kaplan.....we had to take a HESI test and have 850 or higher i really didnt like HESI but to me hesi ques were kind of like higher level of questions on NCLEX ( i m assuming but not sure since i dont know which was higher or low level..........but u know u can kinda tell) ...last but not the least........... :clphnds:pray everyday Good luck to everyone who will be taking theirs :clpty:
  8. Hi i m a new grad. i have not taken my boards yet but i got a job as RNA at a this hospital in med/surg unit. It was my third week in orientation and i already feel too much. Blood transfusin, Pain meds Q3H, admits, discharge. my preceptor has 6 pts and i had 3 of thm. i feel like so stupid. i have so many questions and it delays pt treatment. i dont think my preceptor or charge nurse or manager is happy with me. what do i do. i m so lost. i take my boards next month......................plz help me

  10. hi i m a new nursing student. i just want to know is it normal to use accessory muscles when the patient has surgical incision on abdomen.
  11. i dont understand why media does not depict nurses role as to what they are or what they do................i mean in every tv show like diagnosis X or mystery diagnosis they show doctors or residents doing stuff that they usually dont.................i have never seen a doctor or resident drawing blood or doing catheter...............i dont understand why is it so.......
