Home health aide questions

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

hey all, I just became a CNA on the 19th and have had trouble finding a job at an LTC facility because of lack of experience. I've started applying to home health care agencies and have my first interview tomorrow, but i'm going into it a bit blind (I really want to start working)....so if anyone could give me some info on home health care work i'd really appreciate it...

1. Do home health aides have a set schedule or is it completely random (that's what i've heard)?

2. Do home health aides typically get reimbursed for gas mileage used on the job?

3. How many hours do home health aides usually work?

4. Is it a good to job to have while going to nursing school?

5. Should I keep looking for a job at a nursing home or rehab center?

any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

These questions are best asked when you apply, because the answers might be specific to the agency or the work that the agency currently has available. You can have a set schedule or not, it depends on the types of cases they have available at the time. You should continue to apply at facilities. What you are able to put together as far as work is concerned will depend on your school schedule and how busy you want to be and for what purpose.
