I just took a patient to a followup (post-op) appointment. I saw this sign posted prominently at the front desk.
In the interest of staff safety, the following behaviors will NOT be tolerated:
-yelling
-profanity/foul language
-physical abuse
-threats and/or intimidation
These guidelines will be enforced for the safety of staff and other patients. If these guidelines are not followed, the authorities may be contacted.
I thought it was sad that we have to explain what decent behavior is, but at the same time I am glad that a facility is spelling out the fact that caregivers and staff will not tolerate unacceptable behavior.

I understand Vibe's post. Vibe wants those rules to apply to the docs so they will act nice when talking to the nurses!!!!!!!!
Okay - thanks - got it now!

Where I work we would need a designated person to make all those calls to the authorities. Patients and family members seem to think that abusing the nursing staff will help to heal the patients.
