Nurses Safety

Hi there, I'd really appreciate some input :)

hi there!

I'm working a research paper at the moment and i'm hoping to get some input from people who know whats what. :)

My original plan was to do it on the effects of hospitals on children but no hospital will let me near their patients. so thats a bit of a bummer. N E who, I've decided to go more along the lines of what to/what not to do when dealing with children and their parents. i'm hoping to get some information on what kind of strategies you use when dealing with little ones in a hospital setting. how do they react to certain actions, how parents effect their childrens responses. what do you wish new nurses would know that might not be covered at nursing school? Or any thing u think might be of some help.

Thanx for your time

I think if your doing a thourough research project you would be helpful to come up with a research questionnaire, send it, get it back, record it and evaluate it and then compare it to other established theories/data.

That might help you gather information faster. Is that what your doing? I am glad to help with that.

I did have hospitalized children but am not sure exactly what information your trying to get and a questionnaire would be helpful.

Welcome to the club by the way!!

Have you tried doing a lit search -- that may turn up a research questionaire that would cover some of the info yuo are looking for....why reinvent the wheel? You may be able to use someone else's tool and save some time. I know that IRBs are pretty strict about letting researchers into pediatrics!! 'There was a gal in my rsearch class in MI who did research on affects of care in the NICU -- I could see what tool she used if that would help.:)

And what about asking the parents themselves what they expect or what in a nurse caring for their child?
