Hi everyone. I'm a new user and in need of your wisdom. I'm a Sr. BSN nursing student in the bay area. I'm about to start my preceptorship at a local hospital. One of my professors asked me if there was one thing in nursing I can change, what would it be? She said it can be about anything from staffing, technology, education, pay...anything. I'm suppose to do a presentation on this "change" topic but I have no idea where to start or what to change. I want to focus on an issue on the floor. Something, you, a nurse would like to change to make safer, make more efficient, make cheaper...make better. Any ideas???

Staffing.
Here is an excellent study which shows that more nurses per pt saves lives.

Definitely staffing. Nursing homes still disgust me with how many patients one nurse has.
