Is it a bad sign after an interview?

Hi all, I was just wondering if it was a bad sign if after an interview, the "next steps" that I was given was to contact the nurse recruiter with a date for my NCLEX.

I graduated from a university that ends the semester later in the year than most schools; some of the other students say that we will not be able to establish a test date for NCLEX until around June 30th. I just had a phone interview that seemed to go well, but when she asked if I had a date yet for NCLEX (and I said no) she said "ok well contact me again when you have a date". She mentioned that she wouldn't want me to interview for positions yet considering my start date wouldn't be until the end of August and that there is no way of knowing what kind of openings there will be, which makes sense. I'm just not sure if this was a bad sign and that she didn't want to schedule interviews with managers or something because the interview went poorly.

I'm also concerned about the fact that it is June 9th today and I potentially will not have spoken to the recruiter for another 3 weeks. Will she forget about me?

I REALLY want this job, so please give any advice or thoughts!!!!

Most employers want to talk to candidates who are licensed and ready to work. They don't waste their time with unlicensed people who may not pass the NCLEX on the first go-around. There are too many available nurses who are ready to work to choose from.

That makes total sense, but its actually for a new grad residency program. Sorry, I should have mentioned that! She discussed how they have a start date every month, and considering I wouldn't be able to test until July, my start date would be in August.

In that case, your inquiry makes more sense. They should probably make it clearer on their listings that prospective employees should wait until they are licensed or have a test date soon.

Makes sense. They don't want you to be "getting ready for NCLEX" forever. They want to make sure that there is a trackable, attainable goal to ensure that they make a good investment in you. :)
