Funny Xmas Poem...Anyone Know How it Goes?

  1. Many years ago, I came across a poem in a Christmas card that made me fall down laughing. Unfortunately, I've lost the card.

    It goes something like this:

I'm sending this letter to tell you,
    The government's taken away,
the things I always have needed,
My packsack, my reindeer, my sleigh

So, I'm making my rounds on my donkey,
    He's ancient, arthritic and slow
So, If you don't see me at Christmas,
I'm out on my *** in the snow!

    Anyone know the correct version?

The version I heard went like this:

    Dear Friends,

I'm writing this letter to tell you
    That taxes have taken away
    Just what I needed mostly
My workshop, my reindeer, my sleigh.

All I have left is a donkey
Who is old and tired and slow,
So if I don't see you Christmas
I'll be out on my a ss in the snow.
