Nursing 1 Hesi exam!

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hey there! I am about to take my Nursing 1/Fundamentals Hesi exam. I need 56/99 points to pass the class and though that does not seem like a lot, I am still really nervous! lol So any study tips, suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Thank you! :)

Review things that you learned in the beginning of the semester. That's where a lot of us had issues in my program because we got so involved with what we were currently learning that some of the earlier stuff was forgotten.

Sleep as well! Get a good nights sleep before the exam, and I swear that makes a difference!

Take it easy, read the questions completely, and the answers! They put words in both to mess you up, which completely changes the entire question!

GOOD LUCK! :)

I would suggest practice questions from the HESI Review book, look over your course notes, and review test taking strategies. The thing with questions on the HESI exam do put in words to confuse you however; if you understand the ABCs, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and ADPIE those are key tools to answering any HESI question. Strategy words are key also like "initial, first, priority, highly" there are many other key words and from there you should only focus on what the question is directly asking. They put a lot of "fluff" in the question and it's highly common for nursing students to read into the question and get it wrong I know I did. When you approach each question think nursing action and "think like a nurse" don't try to medically diagnose because that's what the question is not asking. Good luck!
