Nursing on H4 visa

I recently moved to NJ and looking forward to pursue nursing. Although I don't have a nursing background not even science so itz a change of fiels for me. I want to know if I need to take any courses prior to that or can I straight away apply to a school. Also how is the scenario of H1 sponsoring in NJ by hospitals foe registered nurses?

No NJ hospital will sponsor an inexperienced new grad nurse for an H1B visa, partly because a new grad is not qualified (H1B is a visa intended for a BS educated specialty trained with 5 or more years of experience). The other reason is there is an abundance of new and experienced nurses in the NY/NJ metro area seeking employment who are already citizens or legal permanent residents.

As an H4 visa holder your tuition and fees will be very high as you will be considered an international student and ineligible for most financial aid (student visas require proof of funds that you can support yourself for tuition, fees and living expenses for the duration of your studies). Most NJ nursing programs are highly competitive.

The ASN & ABSN programs require all pre-requisites to be completed with high grades before consideration.

The traditional BSN programs require a stellar pre-collegiate academic and extracurricular transcript. (Some BSN programs in NJ are admit as a pre- nursing, demonstrate excellence in pre-requisite and co- requisite courses such as microbiology, pathophysiology and anatomy then apply for the nursing program. Others BSN are direct admit to the nursing major and take nursing and co-req classes at the same time).

Some of the ASN programs have a 2-3 year waiting list once the pre-req courses are completed. ASN does not meet the work visa requirements.
