Nursing in Germany

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody out there can tell me anything they know about Nursing in Germany?

I am a registered nurse with several years of Oncology and chemotherapy experience. I have heard that nursing in general is not well paid or well respected generally by the public in Germany?. Also that there is a high patient to nurse ratio ? and difficult workign conditions? Doesn't sound too good. Just wondered if anyone could comment on whether this was true or not?

I speak basic German having spent some time there a few years ago. I have often wondered about how I would go about registering to be a nurse there and if it would be possible to get a job there and how It would compare to nursing in the UK and New Zealand. Obviously I would need to improve my German too :)

can anyone help me with this? Hope so :)

Jane.

Being able to get a job there will be quite difficult, they require that you pass a language exam first and then pass the licensing exam in German as a start. But then it is also quite difficult to get a visa to be able to work there if you do not already hold an EU passport.

We have a few threads here on the International Forum that list the office and contact number of their equivalent of the Board of Nursing, you just need to use the search engine to find it.

Best of luck on your search.
