I have a friend in my class that is having a really hard time. She's studying harder than me, knows the material more than me, but she is failing the test and I'm doing very well.
Does anyone have any advice I could give her? She's reading, studying, and practicing nclex questions. She doesn't have a time management problem because she studies more than anyone I know. I think her problem is adjusting to the new test style. The questions require critical thinking and a certain skill that has to be developed. For me the skill kicked in, but I think it's taking more time for her. Does anyone have some advice for her to master the skill of test taking for nclex style questions? I think that would really help her out. She knows the material. She just gets stuck between two choices and chooses the wrong one.
I feel awful for her.
Thanks for the help.

The very first quiz, test, exam, etc. one does poorly should immediately (KEY) prompt meeting with the professor of the class to review the quiz/test/exam on a one-on-one basis; and, to ask for advice on how to improve. I do recommend the following videos:

This is not that uncommon. Many people never learn "how to take a test". She may be reading too much into the questions, or not picking up on the key words. My biggest problem was saying "yeah, but what if". Going back to school made me realize that I was my worse enemy. Doing practice exams helped me realize where and what I was messing up on. Maybe your friend can set time with the instructor to review the exam and identify where she is having trouble.
Thanks so much. For the videos and the advice. I sent her the link to this convo and she is taking every piece of advice. I'm sure she will do great on the next test :)
