Nursing Exam

Published

Hi Guys!

I am new to the site and would like some advice. I just applied to the nursing program (barely made the deadline) and didn't have the chance to study at all for the TEAS test. They allowed me to take the test at the last minute and I passed with a 69% because I was not able to get through the math section (I had to chose an answer because I had no time left). I take the Net this Friday. My question is should I try to take the TEAS again for a better score on the Math (the only thing i scored low on)? Or is this score okay?

Nervous,

That only depends on your school. In our school we had to pass with a 67% it was only a technicality and we didn't take the test until we are accepted into the program. Also if you got below a 67 in any of the sections you had to do a 4 week remidial course in that subject. Check with your school and see what they need, some schools use the TEAS as an entrance tool a poor school brings down your chances.

Thanks for the response. The school does use the scores and several other things to determine if you can get into the program. It has been haunting me every day that I was not prepared and I wish that I could take it again, but I thing that it is too late as the deadline was on Jan. 9th. We won't know until April if we are excepted. :o

Future was your overall score 69% or was that just your math portion score? If it was your overall score, then yes I do think you should retake it. If it was just your math portion, what was your overall?

Also, what is your GPA like? Do you have a previous degree? These are all things that are going to make you more attractive to an admission coordinator. Do you know how much emphasis your school puts on Teas scores? If you have a good GPA, then that is going to help you.

It was my overall score. I have a masters degree MBA in Healthcare Management. Although my GPA was 3.4 in grad school it was low in undergrad around 2.5 with major in Health Information Management. I think my chance of taking it over has passed due to the deadline. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks!

I hope your score turns out to be high enough to gain admission. It depends on how everyone else did and the overall average. I'm taking the Teas Feb.25 at Ivy Tech and trust me I'm praying for a really dumb class!! I'm so nervous, I heard the Math section was not hard, but time consuming instead. Do you have any advice?

Thanks a bunch and good luck!

The advice I would give is to time yourself when you are studying the math...there is like 50 questions and you only have 45 mins (makes no sense;when math has to be figured out) and also when you see you are almost out of time guess on the rest for a chance at a right answer. It was easy to me but not enough time to complete the problems threw me off. I wish you the best!!!!

i was told that about 300 people apply to the program at my ivy tech campus and only the top 50 scores are admitted! that's crazy!

~thanks~
