Presentation topic and questions - interview for FT LPN instructor

Hey guys! I'm sooooo excited about what I'm ready to say. I have been working on my Master's of Science in Nursing Education since Spring 2010, took 2 summer classes, and will be finished with my optional teaching certificate (all of the essential teaching classes, although I'll still have to complete my student teaching and about 12 credits of required classes, plus my thesis) after the end of Fall 2010 semester when I've taken 2 more classes. I've got a year of clinical experience in psychiatry under my belt and I was looking around for some adjunct or clinical positions when I hit something amazing. I found a position for a full time practical nursing instructor that emcompasses didactic instruction, clinical instruction, lab instruction, student advising and committee work. I applied thinking that I was underqualified but would at least be able to get my foot in the door, but what do you know, I've got an interview scheduled for the 17th. I've been told that I should prepare a 15 minute teaching presentation that would be relevant to first semester Foundations of Nursing LPN students. We also get the priviledge of using a Smart Room, complete with computer access and a white board. I'm thinking I'd like to prepare a presentation on time management, because these students would be presumably new to the clinical setting and I would be able to use active learning/teaching techniques.

What do you guys think of my topic? I figure that I can initially engaged my audience by asking about situations in their daily lives where they use time management and then address why we time management is similarly important in a nursing setting. I can present an ideal daily clinical schedule and then explain how to deal with situations that may catch them off-guard and bring up the need to re-prioritize throughout the day.

Also, I'm worried about interview questions and interview attire. I know they'll probably ask me about my strengths and weaknesses, why I'm leaving my current job, teaching philosophy, and how I'll make my teaching friendly to a diverse population of adult learners...what am I missing? I wore a pant suit when I went on interviews last year for staff nurse positions - is that still appropriate? I'm going to be interviewed by a panel. I realize that this is probably standard but are there special things I should consider when being addressed by a panel?

I think that's a good topic. I just got offered the position as LVN instructor. They asked me my strengths and weaknesses. Why I wanted to be an instructor. How would I handle a disruptive student, etc... I actually had to meet with nursing instructors and then the President's cabinet too. I would say be careful about just looking at one person. Be sure to make eye contact with all. I wore a pants suit. I hope that helps. GOOD LUCK!
