i reported some people to the dept of public health, in regards to negligent and abusive care of pts.
it cost me my job.
promising that i would never do this again, i have since encountered similiar situations and found myself demanding change, adrenaline pumping and just feeling sickened at the vulnerability of these patients.
so yes, regardless of any consequences, i remain my pt's best advocate.
there are many nurses who have suffered recrimination when trying to protect our pts.
and the system makes it such that many will not take a stand, fearing termination, blacklisting and other serious outcomes.
and so, while in nsg school you will be taught what the nurse's role is in regards to advocacy.
once you become a nurse, you must be prepared to either:
not say a word, allowing the negligence/abuse to continue.
or, stand up and fight, knowing there very well may be unpleasant results.
but i can sleep at night.
moreover, i feel the peace of God's approval.
that's enough for me.

Hi every body,
I have a question to all nurses
hove you ever faced a dilemma during your nursing practice which made you confused ???
and how you dealt with it?
and have you been satisfied with what you did?
