Nursing career seems beyond my reach please help

hi everyone.

my name is jenny I have been attending pcc for the last 5 years. Since I transferred I knew I wanted to become an RN. However, it has not been easy and now that I am almost finished with my prerequisites I feel I will not get in. On my firt attempt I passed anatomy with a B, and nutrition and chem with a c. I have retaken psychology 1 (got an A), psychology 24 (got a C), physiology3x (got a C), microbiology 2x. Basically, I feel like I have no opportunity to get into the nursing program.

I know it's easy for us to judge others but I did try. The terminology is very difficult and english is not my first language. I can say I am happy that I didnt give up because I finally finished the courses but I did not get the grades I desired. I have my CNA license and I have my occupational skills for EMT I still need to pass the registry test. I just want to know if there is someone out there in the world who went trough the same problem and in the end they accomplished their goals.

I have looked into the trade techs chools like american career but they charge over 30,000. I come from a low income family so I dont have that kind of money. I only need microbiology to finish and I want to transfer but I am afraid of being rejected by everyone. If anyone reads this please share with me your experience. I just feel so depressed when I think about the fact that I wont get accepted anywhere. Besides that, I have also repeated math 3x, stats 2x, political science 2x, japanese 2x, english 2x. Can someone please help I am so depressed.

Not having a firm grasp on the english language, I can't imagine having to go through those classes not only trying to understand the new crazy terminology but trying to translate it back in my head. So don't get down on yourself.

If I were you, I'd look into community colleges in your area. I know in my area there are a couple on rolling admissions and while they aren't easier to get into, they certainly won't cost you 30,000. Don't be fooled by the colleges that have "guaranteed acceptance" They usually aren't accredited.

I wish I had better advice for you, but with so so many retakes and a relatively low gpa, it will undoubtedly be difficult to get into nursing school as the education for RN's is becoming more and more competitive. Don't lose hope, and still apply, the worst that can happen is they say no.

I would take a medical terminology class. With all those repeats, I think you will have a very difficult time passing nursing school. The terminology is nothing compared to more complex medical terms, and a terminology class would at least help you there. Why did you take Japanese?

I am a current student at a community college. I was worried about the same things when I applied to my current nursing school of choice. I know that in my community college it is very difficult to get in so I elected to transfer. I would be a benefit to you if the terminology is hurting you to take a terminology course. I make mistakes in my first college experience and had some repeats also. Dont let that discourage you. I applied to a nursing school that looks at the whole person, not just the grades. If you really want to become a nurse you will. Good luck!

I am sorry for all you are going through..

the old saying goes " IF you try and fail try and try again!" You can do this don't give up, get yourself some tutors and get help by friends and instructors. I would maybe try and only take one class at a time in order for you to just focus on that class and begin to raise your GPA.

Whatever you do please don't give on yourself or your dream we all have obstacles to jump over and unfortunately this is yours. If you really want this you will make it through. Keep on trying and you will reach your goal
