Hello, All:

I'm seeking guidance for work. Just want to make sure that I have a good understanding of concepts.

1) In order to maintain multiple state licensures we complete CEUs. For example if licensed in 3 states and each requires 20 hours for renewal. Is it sufficient to complete 20 hours and if audited to send it to all 3 states or do you have to complete 60 hours?

2) In order to supervise nurses in a state where you aren't licensed, you need to endorse your license to that state, correct?

Apologies in advance if these questions seem silly. I don't want to take anything for granted.

If you are referring to a multi-state compact license, you need to complete the required number of CEUs your home state requires. If you are referring to 3 non-compact states that you endorsed, then you are required to complete the maximum CEUs for the 3 licenses. If A requires 20 hrs, B requires 20 hrs, and C requires 30 hrs, then you need to complete 30 hrs since the other two only require 20 hrs. You can use the same hrs for different states.

If you are working in a role of nurse supervisor, then you need to be licensed in that state or live and work in compact states.

Just be aware that some states have SPECIAL topics that their nurses must review. Special topics, like Organ Donation & Child Abuse Awareness/Reporting come to mind. You ABSOLUTELY have to cover that special topic for that certain state.

Also, not all education providers are recognized by everybody. I had one catalogue, good for New Jersey CEUs, that specifically stated inside its cover that it WAS NOT recognized by Illinois.

Just some weird idiosyncrasies.
