HI Everyone,
I am in my 3rd semester of nursing school. And I was wondering if anyone has any great suggestions as to what Nursing Care Plan book is the best.

I haven't found a care plan book yet that had in it what my instructors require of us.
I did get Carpenito's nursing diagnosis book and it has been extremely helpful. My other resources for care plans are my Med-Surg book, Patho book, and medical dictionary. Of course this semester in OB I am using my Maternal Nursing book instead of my med-surg book most of the time.

I use Sparks & Taylor's (authors) Nursing Dx Reference Manual 5th Edition. I really like the format --very user friendly. I have a couple of others but like this one the best. Good luck!

i suggest checking out care plan books from you school's library/or ask your instructor to assist you on your purchase.

The book that we are required to use is:Clinical Applications of Nursing Diagnosis: Adult, Child, Women's, Psychiatric, Gerontic, and Home Health Considerations by Helen C. Cox, et al. It has worked out fine for me and provided the info that I need. Other students have used the Marilyn Doenges (sp??) book.

The authors mentioned above (Helen Cox, Marilyn Doenges, Linda Carpeito) ARE among the best and most authoritative re care planning, nursing Diagnoses.
I also suggest the following:
Marjory Gordon, Manual of Nursing Diagnosis, tenth ed.,C.V. Mosby
Nursing Diagnoses: Definitions and Classification 2002-2003 (available through the NANDA web site)
Joanne McCloskey and Gloria Bulecheck, Nursing Interventions and Classification
(NIC), C.V. Mosby.
Marion Johnson, Meridean Maas, Sue Moorehead. Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC). C.V. Mosby
Nursing Diagnoses, Outcomes, & Interventions. NANDA, NOC, and NIC Linkages. Johnson, Bulecheck, McCloskey,Maas, Moorehead.
I've been a nurse for 20 years. These cover Nursing assessmsnt, nursing diagnosis, nursing intervention, nursing outcomes Well worth the investment to add these to your library.
Visit the University of Iowa web site for more information.
