Nursing in California

Published

Hi,

Trying to find out if a Bachelor of nursing degree (University of Tasmania) is enough requirements to become a nurse in California. I know I have to take a test but can't find out if my degree meets California requirements.

Many thanks

Only real way to find out is apply however until you have a US SSN you can't apply to CA as they will not accept applications without one. This you can't get until in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa. Also as mentioned your transcripts will require both clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult

Sorry forgot to mention that I am a US citizen.

Could you elaborate?

US require general training and we have seen posts from nurses from Australia have issues with their training and short in hours that the BON require. CA are also being strict and saying that clinical and theory hours should be done concurrent

Thanks for your help but, could you tell me who I can contact in California who can tell me EXACTLY what training, theory etc etc I need to do before returning to California? Naturally as I am still in Australia I want to get everything done before returning.
