Want to become a cosmetic nurse.

World Australia

I'm 19 (turning 20 in November) and currently living in Australia.

Just to shed some background information of myself, I started my first year of uni this year as I deferred last year, and am currently studying Interior Design and Decoration. - You're probably wondering why I'm on this thread.

Anyway, leading up to when i finished school back in 2012 I was highly unsure of what I wanted to do, and since being creative was more up my alley I dropped Maths half way through year 11 (because I absolutely hated it) and any kind of science.

I am finishing my first Semester this Friday, and I cant help but feel as though this isn't really for me. I'm still in that phase of trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, and tonight I've just had a long think and I just feel as though becoming a cosmetic nurse is something i actually WANT to do and have thought about over the past few months, it's completely different, and I feel as though I would actually enjoy it.. Although I know NOTHING about medicine, or health etc..

I've done some research (Australian based) and I found that you need to be a 'Registered or enrolled/division 2 nurse'. What exactly does this mean? and how do I do this?

Do I do a division 2 nurse course straight away, or do I need to do some other king of course and then pathway into div 2? After this will I then be able to to the Diploma of Cosmetic Nursing?

Or is this information completely wrong?

Any kind of help and guidance will be greatly appreciated,

Thankyou!

Good morning (though I'm not sure what time it is where you are ;)). I have moved your post to the Nursing in Australia/New Zealand forum to encourage responses. Requirements will vary by country and the various boards of nursing. Good luck!! :)

It is currently 1:20 am, so technically good morning! And aw, thankyou so much! I just happened to stumble across this website and I have no idea how to use it! Where exactly do I find the Australian/New Zealand forum?

I really appreciate your help, thankyou! :)

Hi, you sound like you're still really unsure- why don't you go travelling/work in beauty therapy for a bit before you decide? I say that only because you will have to do extra study (as in, another degree of 3 years) and then specialist training on top (injectables, laser, on the job training in surgical care) so it's a bit of a commitment. You could also try and see if there's any cosmetic medicine conferences around that you could attend to get a feel for it.
