* An understanding of the EQUiP National standards and a willingness to be involved in Quality Improvement activities.

Working in the nursing work field while on my placement I have a clear understanding of the EQUiP National standards. Such as Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections, an example of how I demonstrated this was if there was a patient with an infection we would isolate them and put them in a single ward, I followed the hospital's infection control procedures and policies with the use of correct and frequent hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment such as goggles, apron, and gloves. Another standard is Medication Safety, I demonstrated this by having an RN check with me every medication that was given and working within my scope of practice. I am always willing to be involved in the quality improvement activities to improve the environment I am working in for both me and the clients.

* Demonstrated computer skills with willingness to learn and use electronic medical information and reporting systems

I have excellent computer application skills and am very familiar with most of the hospital's electronic systems. An example of how I demonstrated computer skills was when I was discharging a patient and was required to go onto the computer and do their discharge papers. Another example was when I had to go onto the computer to change the handover sheet as one of the patient's diet had been changed from nil by mouth to full diet.

* Demonstrated well developed organisational and problem solving skills

While on placement I demonstrated well developed organisational and problem solving skills as I was able to find practical solution to workplace problems within my scope of practice. I also demonstrated independence and initiative throughout work tasks as I was responsible for my own patient load. I have always taken every opportunity provided during my clinical placements to participate in providing healthcare to the client and expanding my clinical knowledge and understanding.

  • An understanding of the nurse's role and responsibilities in the use of practice development principles to engage with patients/clients and guide others in the provision of a high standard of care

While studying the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing I have engaged with patients in different situations on all of my clinical placements. These placements included Aged Care, Acute Care and Community Care. As part of these placements I was required to demonstrate my ability to apply primary health care principles, nursing principles, procedures and practices within the Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice. By the end of my acute care clinical placement I was responsible for my own patient load which comprised of 4 patients. This included caring for the patient holistically, as per principles and practices. An example of how I demonstrated this was when I reported to RN as per ANMC competencies that a certain patient's BSL was too high and they were on a sliding scale then I would administer insulin.

* Demonstrated well developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

My written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are highly developed. I have recently completed a Diploma of Enrolled Nursing and this required advanced levels of communication through essays, group projects, visual presentations and practical demonstrations.

As part of this course, I have completed and was marked competent in the units; Communication, Cultural Diversity and Work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders. This supports that I am able to communicate effectively with clients, families, other health care providers and staff members, while taking into consideration diverse cultures, age groups, beliefs and traditions and sexuality.

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development

I am very committed to professional development as whilst I was on placement I was managing an aggressive patient, so I calmed them down by talking to them and reassuring them. This has taught me how to act in a professional manner when dealing with patients in different situations. As a result this will help me develop my skills and professionalism.

  • Current Authority to Practice as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with or without medication endorsement.

I have recently completed my Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing) and have gained authority to practice as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. During my work placement I administered medication, injections, IVF etc.

  • Recent experience as Enrolled Nurse in the acute setting

My clinical skills are excellent and commensurate with my experience, as I have been responsible for my own patient load and have performed tasks such as wound dressing, administering medications, recording and documenting notes and charts, and IVT. I have had experience as an Enrolled Nurse in the acute setting at such & such hospital..

can anyone please help me with my selection criteria. thank you
