I am currently active duty in the Air Force 19 yrs old and wondering if anyone is has gone through transitioning to becoming a nurse officer. Currently taking classes to complete freshman college in order to be eligible for AECP. I just want to listen and hear out what others is going through or experienced already.

Approximately half the nurses in the AF are prior enlisted. I would recommend going and talking to one of the junior nurses at your base. The Chief Nurse at your base would probably be more than willing to help also.

Good Luck!

Anne g,

I am enlisted currently going through the process of trying to become an AF Nurse. I recently applied to the FY10 AECP (non-select) and am awaiting the release of the FY10 NECP board results in Jun. I can't answer questions about being an AF Nurse but i can answer any questions you may have about AECP/NECP and the application process. Also checkout the Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program USAF thread in this forum. We FY10 NECP hopefuls are there and also Faye27 who's hubby also applied to both programs. we'd be more than happy to share any info we have.

Specializes in Maybe OR....maybe CRNA....

Anne g,

I am enlisted and have been picked-up for AECP this year. I will be starting class in Aug. I would be more than happy to help you out with any questions you have about AECP and the application.
