Nursing agency

Published

Hello everyone. I'm looking for some advice here. Any and all will be welcome. I'm thinking of starting my own nursing agency. I've been an Emergency room nurse for the past 10yrs, Therefore the nursing aspect of it i understand. However, I do not have any business sense so to speak. Where do I start?

Specializes in IMC, school nursing.

Do not attempt this unless you have one year of expenses in reserve, real money: food, fuel, housing, emergency fund. Most businesses fail in the first year. My wife and I toyed with it in the 90's during agency's heyday. You must have reliable shift coverage, read, you must be willing to go in when a nurse doesn't, or have enough "minute nurses" to call up. The best place to start is a business lawyer to protect yourself and your license. Good luck.

That does sound like a huge endeavor without any knowledge of the business/legal side of things.
