At Southern High School in Durham, N.C., students work at learning skills to become nurses or nursing assistants. School officials say such programs are more necessary than ever, as the nationwide shortage of nurses has not spared North Carolina.

Hi Karen. I may have misread the article, but I find that as usual, comfort and appearance is emphasized more with those interested in nursing education then leadership, research, and technical know how. I feel that somehow we nurses need to make it clear that all the above ingredients and more are needed to do well in nursing practice.
