Receiving disability

Nurses Disabilities

Hi! I've never posted in this area before. I'm pre-nursing and not sure where I should post... I've recently developed an issue that is temporary (we hope) but that could qualify me for disability benefits. I'm doing school online full time, but my question is, will receiving disability benefits at all affect me getting accepted into nursing school? Working is close to impossible right now and if I wasn't taking online classes, school would be too. I know that you cannot be discriminated against because of a disability, but is there anyway they could see that I received benefits and say that I couldn't hack full time nursing school?

It depends on if you are able to perform the physical role of a nurse. ie: lifting, bending, standing, walking etc.

In the program I'm in, we had to pass a physical (completed by your family dr)

Thank you for your response! Those are definitely not an issue. My issue should be cleared up by the time I enter nursing school (or even sooner!) so sorry for being vague. I don't have any worries that I can't do the physical aspects of nursing, I'm more worried that they may see that I was on disability for a short time and hold it against me :/

They won't have any means to know if you collected disability or are currently collecting disability. That's not part of a nursing school application ;) that would be like asking if the potential student was collecting food stamps or welfare- it doesn't concern them :)
