What kind of non-nursing jobs did/do you all have while waiting?

I work at a daycare. This is my first semester of nursing school, so I cut back a lot, to just 10-15 hours a week since my schedule changes daily so it's too difficult for them to otherwise rely on my for a set amount of time. I have never worked in healthcare (save a 5 month stint as a psych tech at a mental health hospital - only quit cause I moved), so sometimes I feel a bit out of my element! Previous to that, I've been a community based counselor for adults with MR, an instructor at a kids gym, a nanny, a sales associate, and a companion for the elderly.

Jess, are you in a monitoring program? I am asking like for the people who are in a monitoring program and have not received the "OK" or the people who have been through that situation, what kind of jobs did you do while waiting? It's cool if you are, I was just confused because I don't know if nursing school people are allowed to participate in the program until they have applied for NCLEX.

For me, right now, I watch children at my church (yes, I am paid) and I babysit. In addition, I am getting ready to fill out some applications for a part time job as a cashier until I can work as a nurse. I plan to keep the cashier position (if I can get one) after finding a nursing job and eventually, if I can hired, move back to the pharmacy and work part time/ PRN as a pharmacy tech (I was recently given an overturned decision to allow pharmacy tech licensing as long as I stay within my monitoring contract). I want to give my patients the best care I can give--I have the certification already, might as well put it to use and learn some drugs and make some pocket change.

I just wanted to have some fun and see what everyone else did while waiting.
