I just enrolled in RAMP...I was accused of diverting a non-narcotic drug at my previous job. I was fired, despite testing negative on a drug screen.

After consulting with my lawyer, I decided to enter RAMP instead of fighting the board. I'm After I was fired, I immediately found a job at another hospital through an agency.

Will I be allowed to continue working while I go through the RAMP program?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I am not familiar with RAMP, but if it is like other states nursing peer assistance , most have stipulations, or conditions, requirements etc....the only way you would know would be thru your case mang. With RAMP...... I hope you can, and have best wishes for your success.

I'm facing possible RAMPS for a first offense DUI. Did u figure out the answer to your question?

Specializes in ER, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Dialysis.

My experience with my program is that I was not allowed to work until the program approved me to return to practice which took about 5 months. Once approved it took me over a year to find a job because of all the restrictions they placed on my return to work and also because of what I did and the charges I got (drug diversion) It's not impossible by any means but it is a hard, expensive journey and you are totally at their mercy. When they say jump, you say how high, period. There will be treatment requirements, meeting requirements, reporting requirements, drug testing requirements, etc etc. For the most part it is a one size fits all program, whether you drank one time in your entire life and got a dui or you stole all the dilaudid, makes no difference, its all the same.

I am new to RAMP and I was at a Peer Group meeting and a discussion started about testing, rules and types of testing. The moderator, an RN and substance abuse phD said that each case is handled differently based on the individual's background. I have no knowledge myself, but she states it is not a "one-size-fits-all" arrangement...of course this may also be not truthful.
