I get this a lot and I'm sure you guys get this too! When I tell people that I'm a nursing student and that I want to be a nurse, they starting telling me, "You are going to make so much money!" One guy was rubbing his fingers together signaling that nurses make a lot of money. I was offended by it. I never got into it for the money and I keeping telling them it's hard work.
What do you guys think? Do you also get that too from friends, family, relatives and strangers? How do you respond to them?

my friend is an ma, and surprise.....surprise....... after graduation she's not making what the school said she would. now she wants to go to nursing school because she "likes what i make". when she found out how much i get paid she said " go figure" . you know, since she does almost the same thing as a nurse and all.
ha ! so any way i can't seem to get it through her head that , yes, i do make a good salery. but, i've been a nurse for 30 years and worked many weekends, holidays and off shifts. i've worked hard to get the pay. i have to say, i'll be glad when she starts nursing school, wow is she going to get an eye opener. she is going to a "fast track" program. it will be interesting to see :lol2:how she feels about ma and rn pay when she finishes school. my daughter is a teacher. when she reaches her max she will make as much as me and have holidays, weekends and summers off. but, even after all these years i still think nursing is a wounderful profession.:heartbeat
