Hi all,
I just interviewed for a nursing position at a fertility clinic in my area (On, Canada) during which, the nurse coordinator assured me that the proper training would be provided if/when I become a staff member. One thing she did mension though is that I would be expected to complete lady partsl swabs if the MD gets behind. I have never worked in this area of nursing before and only have basic training to fall back on. Is this a fair and safe expectation for both patient and nurse alike?
Thanks again!!!

Hi and welcome to AllNurses.com.
As a Medical Assistant, I assisted the Dr. with pap spears, etc. I'm not sure what all you would be required to do, but I personally don't think that a nurse performing lady partsl swabs would be anything to worry about for the nurse or patient.
Hopefully someone with LVN/RN experience will come along and see your post.
Good luck!
