Im furious at the moment because a nurse got denied employment because of a credit check. This nurse who happens to be a friend of mine has every certification obtainable, cannot get employment?
Her references were excellent, as well as her work history. She was offered the job pending background checks. Poor credit prevented her employment.
Her bad credit is due to divorce a year ago.
So.........What are your thoughts? It seems more and more companies/people are using credit to base judgement. Geez, now the library can mark up your credit if you fail to return a book. SO>>>>>>>>how do you feel.
While I don't think that it is fair, it is legal in most states. Companies perform credit checks in order to determine if a person is going to be responsible (i.e. if you weren't responsible with your own money, maybe you're not responsible overall?). I definentely disagree with this practice, but I have gone through a consumer check, which usually includes a credit check, for just about any job that I have had.

I agree. I want to know if it is legal though.
