I work at a nursing home as a CNA and have started back to school, to become an LPN. I have been give the attitude that I am stupid and cannot get into the nursing program, by some of the LPN's at work. I just try to ask questions about nursing school and they are hateful. My DON talks to me like I have not clue to what I am doing, but hopes I can do my clinicals there. I know she is a negative person. But what should I say to them if they give me this attitude again?
Stay positive and don't worry about the negative people around you!!! I had one of my former charge nurses tell me that I was the dumbest person she had ever met in her life and that I would never pass the CNA class I was in let alone ever become a nurse! Well get what?! I am currently in a VERY competitive nursing program in Kansas and very close to getting my BSN!
Don't let the negative gear how hard you work or let it bring you down! If you were smart enough to pass the exam to get in to the program (I had to take the TEAS I know some schools do different tests) then you are smart enough to work your hiney off and get through and be just as good of a nurse as anyone out there! And hopefully be nicer to the CNA's :)
Good luck!!

I agree with everyone else, simply do not discuss the issue with them. It is unfortunate because as nurses they could do so much teaching with you. Try to surround yourself with positive people and focus your time and effort into your schooling instead. Good luck!
