Hi Good Day :)
I am Registered Nurse in the Philippines. I graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing last March 3007. I passed the board exam last June 2007. I was unemployed for about 3 years. I had to stop working to watch over my aunt, basically a family commitment.
In February 2011, I trained at Philippine Heart Center as a Cardio Pulmonary Nurse, I got my IV training. and all. I then applied at a local hospital here in our place.
At the moment I am currently a staff nurse in the medical ward. Basically I have 2 years experience already last July 2013.
I want to apply as a nurse in Australia, but I am worried if the 3 years gap that I have would be a hindrance for accepting my application. I am well aware of the other requirements like IELTS, etc. But I am askign if anyone can help me with this question.

I don't think it would be a "hindrance" at all in relation to your application for eligibility at AHPRA so long as you are able to fulfill and pass all other requirements. In writing your CV, though, you would just need to explain that gap in your nursing practice. Good luck!

You would have to show AHPRA that while you did not nurse in those years that you did however do the 20hrs a year of PD the same is what is expected of a local nurse when taking a break.
Ay yes! I would have to agree with ceridwyn. :)
