Hi, I recently applied to the University of Miami and the Baptist Hospital nurse residency programs that begin in October. If anybody else has applied to these, have you heard anything back from them? Thanks !

Hi everybody! I’m graduating in a couple of weeks and wanting to relocate to Miami. I’m applying to UM, Baptist, and the Memorial Healthcare residency too.

 - I’m not familiar with the Miami wages because I’m in Georgia and I know how much they’re paying new nurses here, so could anyone give me a range of what nursing residencies are paying in Miami? 
- Anybody that has already started would you mind sharing your experiences, what kind of units you are and how you like it so far? 
 Thank you so so much! I have an interview with UM coming up and just applied to Baptist and Memorial. Fingers crossed I’ll get to work with some of you!

Congrats on coming to Miami! I can only speak for the Baptist residency. I am currently a resident and I am getting paid $29.50 base pay. There is an additional $4 from 3-11pm and an additional $6 after 11pm for nightshift. I am in a Med surge unit currently and it is tough but rewarding. Baptist has multiple didactic classes over zoom as well as a project to go along with clinical site learning. It is a 3 phase residency where you begin with a preceptor and slowly transition to being on your own.

Here most residencies start around that amount but besides shift differential for night/weekends people are also getting specialty differential which is anywhere from 5 to 12 extra dollars. Without factoring in the night/weekend differential my classmates are being offered anywhere between 35-42 ?
