Nurse residency application-- need opinions

Published

Hi! So I am applying for a nurse residency program starting in the winter but I graduated in May of this year. The application is asking for work experience in the past 6 months only. If I get a nursing job by the time I turn in the application (need to make money somehow!) should I put it on the application? I suppose I would have to specify that they not contact them. But I'm not sure what I should do.. I guess what I am asking is it better to show that I am getting some experience or will they see it as me leaving a job not long after I start?? Thanks!

I think the application is only asking for work experience in the past six months because they usually only accept graduates who have been out of school for 6 months or less.

I'm curious, if you got a job now, why would you apply for the residency? Wouldn't that mean that you would be leaving your new job after just a couple of months? If you got a temp job somewhere, that's fine to put on. But if you get a full/part time nursing job than I think you ought to turn down the residency, since it's terribly unprofessional to leave after such a short time.

Yeah, I realize what you're saying. I know what I'm asking sounds pretty bad haha. But, I really really want to get into this residency which is in a different part of the country and I can't find a job there at all. So, I'm close to finding a job here at home until I can hopefully start the residency. I will feel really bad about leaving after a short amount of time but I feel that this is what I need to do.
