I'm searching for a Nurse Refresher course in Nashville. Can anyone direct me? I've called the BON and left messages, still waiting to hear from them.
I've been away from the bedside for about 20 years to raise a family - is a refresher course my only option to get back into nursing?
I look forward to your thoughts and guidance.

Don't lose faith, the TN BON has been wonderfully helpful every time I've called them. :)
We're not in exactly the same boat.. but I am an LPN and took 5 years off. They told me to do 5 CEU hours for every year that I haven't worked.

I am a RN who took a refresher course about 2.5 years ago in Nashville, but I don't know what courses are available now. The course I wanted to take was by Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, but they are not offering it anymore. Your best bet is to call the TN BON again. They will get back to you, but you have to be a bit patient.
I have been away from nursing for 14 years now (to raise kids), and am still looking for a job. It's a tough market--you have to network to have a prayer of getting a decent job.
Best of luck to you!

There is a Nurse Refresher Course offered in Nashville, for RNs and LPNs.
I took the course a few years ago. It was offered for 3 or 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon.
We met about 10 times and then a letter was given to us certifying completion.
The TN Board of Nursing recognized the course and renewed my license.
The course is given by Lydia Grubb, R.N. who is a faculty member of Aquinas College.
It is a little difficult to get in touch with her but you can find her information at that college's website or you can go to www.tennessee.gov/health and type in Nurse Refresher course - she is on that list.
A list for all approved courses in Tennessee is given.
