Nurse Practitioners in schools?

I posted before about Pediatric NPs and a few people posted back about Family NPs in schools more than Ped NP. I am considering going for my Family NP, but part of me is sad that I may not end up in school nursing. Is anyone out there a NP in a school setting?

I think all of the nurses in the Pittsburgh Public Schools are NP's. DOn't know what their specialties are though. Many schools will hire you as a NP but won't pay you extra for it.

In Texas, near Fort Worth, they are putting in "school based health clinics." They look like portables and are next to the school. You pay $5 (for those not insured), and a NP sees you that day. It's a great thing. The school nurse will refer you there. The clinic is not where the school nurse is.

Thank you. I really want to do school nursing later on so I am keeping my BSN I think.
